Default Engine required!

Would appreciate any advice regarding purchase of engine for 53 plate 2.0 Diesel sports. '136' I think?
Local garage quoted £6,000 plus!
Willing to consider short engine or one from scrapyard.
Any advice greatly appreciated, regards omnipeta.

12 grand for an engine????

That is crazy! Well obviously you know one could be had for cheaper then that. A yard would be a good source, as for specifics, I can't really help not being in your area.

Best of luck though, no one should be bent over like that.

As Zod says, don't get it from the dealer, that price is insane. But I too don't really know where to point you. A wrecker is a good start. Grab the phone book and make some calls.

Is your engine beyond a rebuild? if the block and heads are good, it would be a lot less to rebuild it then getting a new one, but if you can find a cheap one from a scrap yard ( that is in good shape ) it's the easiest way to go.

Incase you needed more people to say 12k is a rip off!

Like Mindcore says, a rebuild may be the cheapest alternative.
