Default mazda 6 steering

Hey gang,Ive got a 2003 mazda 6 that sounds like a wooden ship in a storm every time I make a turn[moans and groans].I think I saw a TSP about a problem with the lube they used in the steering mechanism.Any ideas or similar problems?

I haven't had this problem myself, but here's a link that might help.

Unusual noise from steering shaft when turning steering wheel

Otherwise, is it coming from the rack or the closer to the wheels? could be a bad CV, you chould check to see that the boot isn't torn or see if it's all gummed up

I had a similar problem, when I took it in, they said it was the power assist module, and replaced it. Has been fine ever since. It was a while ago though. I don't remember the details, sorry

Carl, take a close look at that link Jim posted. I had a similar problem and used that TSB and it's fixed.

I'm with these guys, if that TSB doesn't fix it, look to the CV joints

It turns out [no pun] that the groaning and squeeking was a bad tie rod/lower ball joint. Thanks Carl

HUH, I wouldn't have guessed that based on groaning, but glad you got it fixed up!
