Looks pretty cool
![]() Several prototypes for the next-gen Mazda6 have been spotted in recent months, but most were covered with enough camouflage to prevent prying eyes from catching a glimpse of the car ahead of its launch early next year. New renderings that have just been released allow us to peel away the protective camouflage, however, revealing a car that retains the sporty 'Zoom-Zoom' look of the current model. Sharing its platform with Ford's new mid-sized Mondeo sedan, the new Mazda6 is expected to grow several inches in both length and width compared with the current model. New to the range will be a 3.5L V6 developing around 250 hp, which will likely be eclipsed by an even hotter motor, possibly turbocharged, for a new Mazdaspeed 6/MPS model a year down the road. Though the renderings only show a sedan, the current five-door hatchback and wagon variants are also expected to continue on for the new model, though the current generation wagon and Mazdaspeed6 have been shelved for the '08 model year. Let's hope that Mazda's new weight saving initiatives that were used for the new Mazda2 will also be applied for the six. New Mazda6 Latest Artists Renderings Based on the platform of Ford’s European Mondeo, this next generation Mazda6 is expected to be an inch or so longer and just slightly wider than the current model. Engines will include a 4-cylinder making about 180 hp, and Ford’s new 3.5 liter V-6 making about 250 hp. In the future it is expected to offer a hybrid powerplant, as well as a high-performance model to replace the current Mazdaspeed 6. Mazda currently offers the Mazda6 in a choice of body styles, including 4-door sedan, 5-door hatchback, and station wagon. While only the sedan version is being tested at this time, one can expect Mazda to offer the same range of models in this new generation. As always, Mazda puts an emphasis on sporty looks and handling, so the new Mazda6 features wide tires and wheels, projector beam headlights, and pronounced fender flares over the front wheels. |

I agree, but based on the pics of the front end that are known to be real, I think this is just a guess. No way that front end matches what we see here.
I think the "edge" will be there. It's a sporty car as is, it would be dumb to take that away from the current fan base |

that rendering makes it look like the 6 is going on the eating binge that the 626 did a few years ago. it looks fat. the 6 is such a nice car, with no excess really, that it looks nice, it looks trim, and fit. I hope the front picture is more of the edgy look they are going for, not the boring Camry next door look that the top one has.
