I head out for work this morning as I normally do, about 20 minutes late.
I'm just pulling out of my driveway and the there is this fluttering sound.. hmm I say, but my eyes are barely open. So I just keep driving. The I notice the car is kind low on power. I'm stompin on it, and it's like woooaaaaaa spit, blagh, cough. Nothing is lit up on the dash, and by this time I start to think something is wrong with my baby, so I'm awake now. I was just about to hit the onramp to the highway, so I pulled off and decided I would check under the hood for a disconnected vacuum line, or maybe to see if one of the hamsters had fallen off the wheel.... and there's the joke. I see a bit of straw sticking out of the air box. So I poped the cover off, and what do I see? a nest! and this wasnt no tiny nest in the corner type thing, this was a 30 unit condo, with a pool, jaccuzzi, tennis court, the works! It was stuffed so full in here, that the couldn't have been more then a coupe fingers worth of free room. So there I am, on the side of the road pulling out grass, and dirt ( why did they use dirt? ) leaves, branches, etc.. and tossing it into the ditch. I took the air filter off, and gave it a few bangs, and sunflower seeds were flying out of it like kids spewing on the teacup ride. Put it all back together, fired it up and she purrs like a kitten. I don't know what made the nest, why it decided that was a good spot to put it, or how pissed it will be at me when it finds I relocated thier home about 10 miles up the road, but these animals have to learn dammit

Dude, that's awesome! LOL
Nothing like being late for work and having to deal with that crap. Though it's happened to me enough times.. I have a couple summer only cars, and when first thing I do in the spring is clean the crap out of my air box... makes a good home I guess ![]() |
