i am looking for some help on my mazda 6.
when i start the thing, it starts fine. first 20 seconds of moving off, fine. Next 4-5 mins absolute nightmare!!! it all starts when i put the clutch down to change into 3rd, i experience a lack of power, shift down into 2nd, the thing stalls... bump it using the clutch to get the engine going and all i get is a low growling sound and no power... shift into 1st and the thing stalls.. bump it again using the clutch and it chugs along with no power till all of a sudden it takes off fine untill i go to shift into 2nd, when the whole thing starts again. The car has been converted to run on LPG.. Think you call it propane/butane in USA... this side of the engine does not kick in till the car is warm, so dont think it is a problem with that.. once it switches over to gas, i am on the motorway.. sorry freeway, sitting at 80mph and the thing runs with no problems. Took it to the delership, mechanich experienced the same problems as i am experiencing, but nothing shows up on computer. Sales guy took it out for a drive and low and behold, could find nothing wrong with it!!! 58k miles on clock, 2 years old and up till now, everything has been great. Had the 62k service done early to see if that would solve problem.. plugs, filters etc, but no joy. 60k warranty is fast approaching and need to get this sorted. Anybody got any suggestions on what it could be, or has anybody experienced the same on their mazda 6? craig in scotland Last edited by braveheart : 01-11-2008 at 12:58 PM. Reason: stupidity!! :-) |

LPG runs on a higher pressure then regular petrol if I'm not mistaken. My bet is that you have a leak or pressure drop in your fuel system and your engine is being starved with fuel. In fact if it was a gasoline engine, I would have said the same thing. It's the same symptoms. I'd run a pressure test first off.

oh man... my mazda is dead!! took it back to the dealer, who hit me with the fact that that valve clearances are wrong and it is quite a big job to fix.. and they wont pay as it is "maintenance" and wear and tear rather than broken. After a series of arguments with salesmen, managers and even the MD of the company, they have offered to take the thing back and give me a new car.. so i am the soon to be owner of a peugout.. cant even spell it.... diesel car that should get me 40 odd mpg which is what i need. SO, i have given up with the lpg and mazda.
My gas supplier said it might not be too bad a move as he sees lpg creeping up in price over the next 12 monts.. currently 49.9 from him, 56.9 from shell and he sees it going to mid 60p a litre by the end of the year.. Roll on hydrogen or the next biggest thing!!! craig in scotland |
