Hi,
have just bought a Mazda 6 (2004) 1.8TS, and it is absolutly great. I have been running Saabs for the last 10 years (classic 900 and a 9000), but fancied a change as new Saabs are crap - so on the recommendation of a few Mazda owning mates (323F; Xedos 9; 2 and 3) - I thought I'd give it go.... so 30-minute test drive later I have signed on the dotted line for an immaculate 6 in contrail silver with only 24,000 miles on the clock and one-owner. A week later and I've clocked up 650 miles and it's really good, handling fine (for what it is), performance ok-ish (I miss the turbo umph) but the overall package is fine - love the looks inside and out - so I'm a happy newbie. I've got the 16-inch rims on there with Pirelli P6000 tyres fitted, anyone got any recommendations for tyres for the future - not urgent as new rubber fitted by the dealer last week. Also, performance, any recommendations about if it is worth getting it chipped... never sure if this is a good idea or not, as it would be a great shame to muck up a smooth running motor. Be good to yourselves Chris |

Hi Chris, welcome to the forum.
Congrats on the new car. Like Jim says, I'm a fan of the Toyo T1R's as well for a summer tire. Chips on the non FI car ( from what I hear ) doesn't do much. You'd be better off with a CAI and Exhaust IMO |

Oh, I meant to ask.. you say saabs are crap. A buddy is looking at one, can't remember the model, but I was reminded of this.
How do you figure they are crap? are they unreliable? fit and finish? etc? thanks |

sorry, my comment about new Saabs was perhaps a little harsh, but in terms of the quality offered by them since GM took over - they are not a patch on the old ones which were just massively over-engineered.
Still getting used to my new car, which just feels so much lighter on it's feet and modern compared with the old one. Hope everyone has a good Christmas and New Year. cheers Chris |
