Hi all, new to this forum and could do with soe advice please.
Bought an 04 2 ltr TS in July this year, from a Mazda dealer. Had afew niggling problems but they sorted them. My main problem at the mo is the the car runs like a bag of spanners every time you start and drive off, ie mornings, lunch and evenings etc. It does pick up after a while but it cant be right. Had it in dealer 3-4 times. First few times the "technicians" witnessed the problem but the diagnostic machine didnt find any fault code. So in their minds there is no fault, even though they witnessed it, and also said that they found the very same fault on other 6s on forecourt. Now been told that this is just a common trait of the 6 and that they will do nothing with it. Very frustrating as the have told me that they felt/witnessed the problem. Also seems to turn over longer than normal before starting. I think that there are 2 scenarios here, they are all incompetent in the workshop, or it is a big fix that they dont want to take on under warranty. Has anyone ever had this issue on there 6? Any advice/feedback would be very much appreciated Andy |

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum.
I think people are afraid to tackle this one, since it could be so many different things. My first guess is the TPS, when it's cold, its reading incorrectly, could also be something as simple as your plugs being fouled. I take it there are no check engine lights on? What really gets me is that the dealer acknowledges there is a problem, yet gives you the car back since they can't figure it out. That is unacceptable. Being that it is under warranty, I'd demand it be repaired, they are the experts, it's pretty much their job! Would be nice if would could give you the ammo though. Oh, what's a bag of spanners? ![]()

Hi thanks for your reply. Firstly what is the TPS? I am new to mazda but had toyotas for a while and know what most of their abreviations are. Secondly a bag of spanners roughly translates to (in non rude mode) rubbish.
Spoke to a proper mechanic tho and he said I should check the pipes to the throttle housing etc as any of these could be blocked. But firstly to use a fuel system cleaner. So I put STP fuel system cleaner in and fingers crossed it seems to be running much better. |

![]() TPS is Throttle posistion sensor. Fuel system cleaner would have been my first guess, but honestly shouldn't be needed on a 3 year old car. But if it worked for you, great! |

Hi, I have just today joined the Forum and have a 6 month old Mazda 6 143 BHP diesel. I too have suffrered from what seems to be a similar problem: I called sounding like the engine was full of marbles. I paid over £350 to have an early first service to rectify the problem of noisy engine and quite severe hestitation for a short while when the engine was cold. The service had solved the problem, but now it is re-appearing after about a month later. I had assumed that because their computer read 'fine' they did nothing more even though the original problem had not really disappeared. I will mention the fuel system cleaner. Incodently, I have never used any fuel other than supermarket diesel: I have heard in the past that this is not as good as the more expensive BP or Esso? Any thoughts? Thanks, entropycity |
