Hello everyone, I'm novo from South wales in the UK, bought a 2003 Mazda 6 estate/wagon about a year ago now and absolutely love it.

There are a few things which I need to sort out with the car including getting the alloys done coz they are starting to corrode/peel if you know what I mean, common fault I think on the older 6's.

The biggest problem is the Sat Nav, it works fine but if I dont use the car for 2 or 3 days (coz I cycle 2 to 3 days a week) then the battery is dead (yes, its a new battery). Spoke to my nearest dealer and they said they had a similar problem a while back with a customers car and it turned out to be the Sat Nav draining the battery. Does anyone know of a way to dissable the Sat Nav, perhaps removal of a fuse or something. Tried to locate the fuse but to no avail, any help would be appreciated.

welcome to the forum!

I seem to recall a TSB about the nav draining the battery. I'm surprised that the dealer didn't have more information.

I'll keep an eye out for where I saw that.

When I spoke to them they said that the sat nav was replaced under warrenty because the car was only 6 months old, at the moment though I have disconnected the plug to the back of the disc drive so its not working, haven't used it for a while anyway. Thanks.

Haven't seen any posts about rims, could you put a link up, Johnny Drama. Cheers.

Not specific to the 6, but the same problem, and various stories about it
P5 Wheel corrosion

Mazda has been really good in replacing rims, they know they have a problem, so it doesn't take much convincing

Good luck!

JUst had a look at that post about the wheel corrosion, damn, mine look worse than that, didn't really think it would be a safety issue tho.
Thanks Johnny.

If the rims start rusting out, it can compromise the integrity of the wheel. I wouldn't risk it, nor should you.. Mazda knows this

Luckily they are pretty good at taking care of it
