I have a 2001 626 that starts when it feels like it. Seems to be getting worse. Sometimes it starts right up, other times it will start on 2nd or 3rd try and yet other times I have to use starting fluid. Once it starts, it runs fine. I've seen fixes suggested for it ranging from replacing the distributer to replacing the Crank Positioning Sensor Wires (whatever and wherever those are. Don't even know if my car has them) Is there a way of finding out what EXACTLY is wrong so I'm not buying every electrical component for the thing just to see IF that was the problem? Thanks for any and all comments/help!

It's now 11/14 in the afternoon and the car has been at the shop since Monday, 11/10am. They said the crankshaft position sensor checked out ok so they figured it was the computer. They ordered a computer from the junkyard, installed it and it still won't start. Now they think it's the fuel pump and they are in the process of replacing that. Hmmmmmmmmm

They replaced the fuel pump and a screen. They also turned the front rotors and replaced the front brake pads for a total of $544 including taxes. About $400 of that was for the fuel pump, screen and labor. It started at the garage last night and again at my house this morning. Crossing my fingers!
