Default Why has my steering started to shake?

I've noticed that when I get above 40 the steering wheel starts to shake in my hand.

Slow speeds it doesn't happen, or not enough to notice. Could it be the tire balance?

I'd guess wheel balance. Sometimes the weights can fall off and you don't notice till you get moving. Doesn't take much to get it checked out, and cheap to so I would start there. At the same time they'll look at the tires, sometimes a belt can shift that throws the balance off, then you'd have to replace the tire though.

That should cover it though.

I would say the same thing, unblanaced or you have a bum tire. Take a close look at the tire to be sure there are no bulges in it.
