Hi from "sunny South Africa" unfortunately it has been raining in Johannesburg for the last two weeks and I am getting withdrawal symptoms from the lack of sun!
I have had the MX5 from new and have never had any problems until now, when the ignition switch is turned on all the other ignition lights come on except the security light and the car will not start, the problem was intermittent at first but now the security light remains off. The car has done about 106,000km's and regularly serviced by the dealers. I have had a "piggyback" system fitted about 2 years ago to optimise the fuelling and ignition timing as well as a tuned header and free-flow exhaust system. When the problem first occured I took the car to the dealers but they "suspect" the ECU, they could not help me and I cannot use the car at all. |

Hi Wally, welcome to the forum. I moved your post to a better spot, you had it buried in the Mazda3 section.
I'd suspect the ECU as well, but first I'd check the battery, if it's original it may be on its last legs, and with out enough current to keep the the memory in the ECU it could be messing with your security system and just plain out preventing your car from starting. |
