I have 2002 Tribute with 167000 km on it. 2 weeks ago number 3 spark plug blew out of the head taking the threads in the head with it. Now to fix this properly the head has to be replaced for a cost of between $2500-$3000. Now I know Ford has had this problem in their motors with the aluminum head. Has anyone else seen this problem in their Mazda vehicle?
Also does anyone know if Mazda will be introducing their trucks with a diesel motor like they have in Australia? I guess they are an awsome truck. I would like to buy one. |

Hey Lee, welcome to the forum.
Sadly, I really doubt that the diesel will make its way over here. The support for diesel vehicles is weak. I wish the automakers would understand that we want these cars too. As for your plugs, true, the head should be replaced. I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem, but a friend of mine is a Ford Tech, I'll run it by him. I "think" you can have it sleeved and rethreaded, which could save you a lot of money. |
