Brick, there are a lot of local clubs that host track days, some are geared towards beginners, some for the more advanced. Just look for some of those clubs and sign up for a day. I've found there are usally lots of people there that are happy to help out newbs, showing the proper lines, advice etc.
There are also some schools that are more dedicated to learning then just lapping, and if you are a little unsure of your ability that might be a good way to go as well. If you're local to Toronto, I can reccomend some places |

My first time, I just went out and ran the track, I've been to schools since, and they are well worth it, but if you can find a good group to go with, that aren't a bunch of mental cases, you'll be fine.
Be warned, it's highly addictive!! |

The 8 is a very competent car on track, that is capable of keeping up with much higher HP cars...until we get to the long straight parts. But even still, it is a lot of fun to track the 8. As time goes on, and more of us show up, we are starting to get a little more respect from other drivers, as to how good our car does on the track.
Find you local division of NASA, and join up with them, you will get top notch instruction, a great weekend, and at a very reasonable price. I don't know where Mississauga is, but if it is anywhere near Georgia, you can find a lot of the GA RX-8 Club track junkies at most of the NASA-SE events.

heh Mississauga is near Toronto Canada, little ways from GA. But we do have many clubs that you can hook up with to get on the track.
I'm at the track all the time, and I don't think I've ever seen an RX8 there. Which is wierd, I would love to get the chance to run against one. Bricktop, I'll see if I can get some names together for you if you want to get on the track. Or next time I go to a lapping day you can come out and I can go over the basics with you. We're lucky that we have a few decent tracks around here. We just don't have a long enough season to enjoy it! |

In our general part of the country, outside of Florida we have:
-Road Atlanta, where they hold the ALMS Petit LeMans every year, it is a lot of fun to drive a world class track. -Barber Motorsports Park, where they have Grand Am Rolex and Koni Challenge races every year. -Rockingham, a former NASCAR track, that has an infield course that they mix with two NASCAR turns. -Roebling Road Raceway in Savannah, the 8 really loves this track, not too much long straight sections, but a lot of inter twined corners -Carolina Motorsports Park, in Kershaw South Carolina, another fun one in the 8 -Talladega Grand Prix Raceway, a short rod course layout near Birmingham, fun, and high revving. -VIR is another world class racetrack but it is a bit of a haul to get to, but can be done in a day, I have not been there yet, but really want to go next year. anyone in the southeast that feels liek they want to hit the track, look us up, we are at events with NASA almost every month. Once you drink the Kool-Aid, be careful, it is addicting. ![]()
