Ok, so I went to the dealership about a month or 2 ago and they were desperate to get rid of their 07' new rx8s....We couldn't agree on a price because they wanted 40k and I was only willing to do 37k (it was already more than I wanted to spend but def couldn't do 40)....that's including taxes...
So I didn't make the deal but yesterday the guy from there calls me and tells me that they can do my previous offer of 37k...So i ask "So you guys still couldn't get rid of the 07' rx8, eh?", to which he replies, "Well, actually we've got a few"....which imo, shows how desperate they are to get rid of their 07 models...I was only aware of 1 that they had in stock, but that was definetly a mistake for him to tell me he's got more... When I go in, what should my counter offer be to the 37k? thanks guys, much appreciated, Gabe |

Not sure what I would offer in your place but I would think you still have room to haggle. I love my RX8 but with gas prices going up it is a bit more difficult to drive it as much (or as hard) as I like....

I would have to go with black! It is just sneaky looking. Also, just a heads up but I have an 04 and just got a notice in the mail today that they are extending all engine warranties out 8 years/100,000 miles so don't let them push that as a special only for you!
Good luck though, sounds like you are getting a pretty good deal to me. Just make sure to pay attention if you are financing.

I sent them my final offer...
new 07' rx8 GT $36,995 tax included 4 year bump to bumper warranty 8 year engine warranty 5 oil changes life time rust protection Paton...i just sent the email....i think this is a good deal as is....so I'm not going to get too greedy and cancel my offer and offer them a smaller offer... so basically they offered 37k for the 07 GT w3 year bumper to bumper...and i guess the 8 year engine warranty (which i thought was just for me) i got 5 dollars off!! lol, an extra year for the bumper to bumper, rust protection, and 5 oil changes.... don't forget that this car retailed for just under 42k PLUS tax (like 47.3k) just 1 year ago....so i'm getting a sweet deal here imo Gabe |

Question: I've never driven stick before...i have a friend who does drive stick and is willing to teach me for free on my RX8....should I get a 2 hour lesson for 60 dollars from an actual driving instructor on my RX8 or should I just let my friend teach me?
The reason I wanted to do the driver instructor is because I didn't want to learn on the RX8 but they don't provide the cars so I have to learn on it either way... thoughts? Gabe |

If you're halfway inept, get your friend to teach you how to drive stick, then go to an advance driving course and learn how to control the car. That's what I would do.
Now, more importantly, you must not have read the story of the guy that was buying a car cash, took a cab, and left 30k in the cab and it took off. You would be nominated for dumbass of the year if you show up with a bag full of money. Put it in the bank, get a cashiers cheque and give them that. Trust me, you don't want the net laughing at you ![]()

not familiar with a cashier's cheque...what is that? Do I just ask for a cashiers cheque for 35k? would they understand what that meant? Also, my dad is driving me so I don't have to worry about the cab incident, lol
Why would I go to a course after learning how to drive it? i don't understand... Gabe |

if youve got 35k in cash and for some reason get robbed or are in an accident on the way to get the car.youre up the creek!!!! if you get a cashiers cheque and anything happens the only people the cheques good for is the dealership itself.you may get a $5-20 charge but whats that really to $35k.yes you should maybe get advanced driving lessons.it'll teach you how to enjoy youre sports car.its all very well learning the shift stick gearbox but how to drive the car is different.cornering, using the abs brakes to avoid accidents. enjoy youre new toy!

Question - what would you guys suggest in terms of winter driving? store the car for the winter? or is it not bad to drive in the winter as long as i get snow tires? I have to keep it outside as well so would that ruin the car? Ideally, i am trying to find a place i can store it in the winter but if I do that then i can't drive it...just looking for some opinions on winter driving with the rx8

Congrats on the new car!
First off, a cashiers check, money order, etc. put the money in the bank, tell them you're buying a car and get them to give you something, instead of taking cash.. it's not wise.. not wise at all. the 8 is well balanced, I would think a set of snow tires would have you passing most all season SUVs, so I wouldn't worry about it at all. There are lots of clubs, driver training etc in your local areas that you can join. It's done on a track in a safe enviornment, and can greatly increase your safety and enjoyment of the car. Ask one of the guys in Canada for some reccomendations. |
