Somehow I have disabled the little 'rubber buttons' to open the doors and the trunk - at least I think I have. I can open the doors/trunk using the key or by pressing the 'unlock' on the remote control. Neither of the two remotes enables the rubber door buttons ( lock or unlock). When I am in the car I can start it without the key. (ie the car detects the presence of the remote).
When I press the door buttons a tiny red light flashes on the remote indicating that the car is talking to the remote in some way. I can find nothing in the manual saying how to enable or disable this feature. Ok - how did I screw it up and how do I unscrew it? |

You are DEFINITELY going to have to give me the full scoop once you have this figured out. I can't see how the rear antenna has anything to do with the unlock buttons.
Wait.. am did I read this wrong from the beginning? what buttons don't work? the ones on the remote, or the car itself? |

Sorry - I should have made myself more clear.
1) The car has the 'Advanced Keyless Entry System'. (Do they all ??) 2) The buttons I am talking about are the ones Mazda calls 'Request Switches'. ie., the three external little buttons - one embedded in each front door and the 'hidden' one under the trunk. 3) There is one additional piece of information I missed out. The 'KEY' word on the dashboard remains red, even in the presence of a key. The car DOES start without inserting a key in the ignition. The service representative ( ie the guy you get to talk to as opposed to the one who actually runs the diagnostics) implied that 'KEY' being red rather than green is a visual indication that something is wrong. 4) The remotes are working. I can (un)lock the doors or open the trunk with either remote. 5) The car is Canadian and I believe it is slightly different to American models in its programming. Here is an extract from MazdaUsa for the MazdaSpeed6 KEY indicator light illuminated continuously (red) indicates system malfunction, and auxiliary key should be used, have vehicle inspected at an Authorized Mazda Dealer as soon as possible I'm a software guy and it seems reasonable. If I detected that an external part of the receiving system was failing then it could indicate tampering and I would off line all the buttons allowing access to the inside of the car. I am yet to be contacted that the part has arrived. Last edited by Paulustrious : 03-31-2008 at 10:02 AM. |
