poorly tuned turbo's on a Renesis = blown motors. I don't know everything about them, but I do know that the majority of them end up going boom. If you really want to go FI, the new Petit SuperCharger seems to be much more reliable, and makes a lot more HP and TQ, and now can achieve over 300 WHP.
EDIT: The owner of that car, he has a catless midpipe on there, that is what gives it the sound, more than the Turbo. The blow off valve on it sounds really ricey to me, I don't care for that noise at all. The thing about the Greddy Turbo, is that it boost's HP figures, but doe snot really do all that much for actual usable performance. Yes, it is a little faster, yes there is a little more TQ, but in the end, it is not a big improvement over the stock car, and when you add in the risk, and potential for the engine going bang in a bad way, it really is not worth it. my two cents.

The video linked in the first post is from my first dyno session. I made around 270 whp then. Please see my later videos for the improvements since. I run a customized GT3071R turbo now, same spool time, but it'll be able to push 400 whp.
SC's are always going to be at a disadvantage for several reasons. They are tied to rpm, they are always less efficient using crank energy instead of "wasted" exhaust power, and have far more moving parts and belts. The ironic thing about a SC is people always think SC = Torque. But of the two available SC's for the RX-8, every single turbo kit outperforms them in torque. The Pettit doesn't even reach 200 tq. My last dyno did over 300 whp and 245 lb/ft torque. When compared to a Pettit SC, I have some 60 whp gain from 3.5k rpm till 8k rpm over theirs, even though my peak hp number matches their 300. Basically under the curve the turbo out powers them. This is exactly why you never want to look at just peak power numbers. I'm currently running 11 psi. I don't have dyno numbers yet, but I don't plan on going back till I'm 12-14 psi. I estimate the car will be over 360 whp and 270 tq by that point. I'm still on the original engine. It has a lot of compression and has no issues. 47,000 miles. So I've been boosted for 15,000 miles so far. Let me know if you have any questions. Make sure to check the links in my sig.
