Default Low Engine Oil Light?

I check the oil level at least once a week. The temperature here has dropped at night below 40 degrees (F) for the first time since I bought this car and on two mornings the low oil sensor light has come on when I first started the car. It only stays on for about 4 to 5 minutes. I know the oil level is ok; should I have something checked out?

What weight oil are you using? perhaps it's not getting up to temp fast enough, maybe moving down to a 5W 30 might help

I am currently using 5w 20. I make sure its up to temp before any revs but still want to make sure its not a sign of a bigger problem.

I've heard of this happening pretty often, and consensus is that it's not much to worry about, the pressure gauge is already on or off, so I think it's just a metering problem. If you "know" the oil level is fine, then it is.

that is a new one to me, I wonder if it is a problem with the recirc pump for the oil cooler. maybe you are having oil pickup issues.
