Thanks Dude! The sound is terrific. The lows filter through adding depth and power you can hear and feel without drowning out the mids and highs. The end result exceeds what I originally was looking for, however, midway through the process I was second guessing myself. I was concerened about the loss of trunk space, the cost, and final look and sound. Placing the Amp in the storage bin cleaned up the look and gave back a usable amount of trunk space. Concerns about the heat build up by the amp being trapped in the bin are minimal due to my use of a class D amp which generates far less heat than a class A,B,or C amp.

That is a great install. Congrats. I have always been an audiophile, and like to sit and listen to music in my home. I would love to have a great system in my car as well for those days when I'm stuck in traffic.
Would you say it was fairly easy to do all this work? I like your description of the sound quality and I think it's time I took the plunge. Did you keep your stock head unit? |

Thanks Alain. The installation was fairly easy in hind site, however somewhat intimidating at the beginning. Fortunately there are many resources on the various Rx8 chat rooms which provide tech. support. I continue to use the stock 300 watt bose head unit and tapped the low level inputs at the plug going into bose amp located under the rear deck for the amp I added to power the subs. I chose the subs (rx t-2 Bazookas ) for their triangular design which is consistant with the cars' " rotor " theme. I ran all the wiring through the center section because it was convienent and required the least dismantling. The sub-box was the most challenging for me so I searched until I found a custom built box for the RX8 which made it much simpler. I contacted the box company, spoke to the owner and mailed him the speaker template for the cutouts. All in all it was worth the effort.

Well, can't say it's my cup-of-tea, though IMO the Bose system (standard in UK spec) isn't really up to much. I love the way the subs are Rotary shaped, though
