I'm new to this forum so please bear with me. Thanks
I wonder if anyone can help me? With my stereo that is. Here's the problem. I NEED MORE BASS! Anyone else had this problem? I'd love to hear about how you solved it. I looked into having an electronics retailer install a subwoofer/amp retro job but the thought of someone tearing into my interior is a bit unsettling and expensive and, I would think, a bit "bush League". I'm a do-it-yourself type and maybe a bit of a perfectionist (no I'm not gay...not that there's anything wrong it..Seinfeld) I just want an outcome I can be satisfied with. Want to keep the Bose (6 cd,300 watts) would just like to kick it up a decible or ten....in the 20 to 50 hertz range...you know what I mean. Last edited by rex8 : 10-05-2007 at 11:59 AM. The biggest problem is the Bose, Normally I would have said change your speakers, but you don't really have that option since the Bose system has individualy amplified speakers.
If you want to keep the factory set up, the only real way is to add a sub. I wouldn't be too concerned about having it installed though, if you find a good shop, they'll have it installed, and you won't even know they touched your car. Even something like a Bazooka Bass tube would add a lot of low end for you. They styleized dash is cool, but it makes it hard to slap in a decent head unit. So I can't blame you for wanting to leave things alone. Or, I would say throw in a good HU, Amp and some MB Quart speakers and you would have an incredible system. So ya, have a sub installed, and you'll get what you're looking for. Oh, if you are a do it yourself guy, you should have no trouble doing all of this yourself. It really is quite easy. Something like this link, BAZOOKA Mobile Audio - Products: Auto - Raw Woofers you can get an active unit, which has the amp and crossover built in, you just need to run power and some leads from a speaker to it and you're set. It's not Audio Competition level, but it will fill in that low enf. |

Thanks for your responses.
One of the nice things to do as we get older (at 43 I think I qualify) is to harken back to those old "glory days" The days when your life was simpler, your bills were much smaller(and fewer), and your music was much, much, louder.( "Cream" anyone?)Good insights L8APEX.I like your handle(screen name)I also think "Apex Seal" would be a good one. Speaking of "Apexes" I checked out the Bazooka web site(thanks Supersonic) in search of bass augmentation and was pleasantly surprised to find Bazooka offers a sub-woofer line they call the "RX" series. The speaker shape,as you probably guessed already, is triangular.(I wonder who they're target customers are? hhumm?) Question: "Can a triangle(or two) produce good sounds"? (It seems L8APEX has already answered that question) Rephrase: "Can two ROTORESQUE woofers reproduce good bass"? It would be a great addition to the car's firmly established theme to include them in my boot. (a.k.a. trunk...I just like to use the word "boot" once in a while) Anyone care to respond? I found a company on E-bay that makes sub boxes for RX8s. I sent them the template for the Bazooka RX-T2 subwoofers I recently purchased, also from E-bay, to see if the cutouts will fit.eBay Motors: Mazda RX8 RX 8 Sub SUBWOOFER BOX Enclosure (item 290168864368 end time Oct-18-07 10:39:01 PDT)
