Default Whining noise from passenger front wheel

Hi everyone,

I have a whining, sort of metal on metal type sound coming from my wheel, is that what a worn bearing sounds like? I'm not really up to speed on my technical knowledge. If so, is it an easy fix?

Thanks

is it a constant whining/squealing? does the sound change at different speed levels? Or only happen under certain circumstances like braking?

Also, have you made any changes recently? (like new brake pads?)

how many miles are on the car? the wear indicators for the brake pads are on the passenger side, might be that, you could possibly have a rock or some other debris stuck near the rotor.

Wow, you guys are good! there was a little metal slug that was wedged in there. plucked it out with a screwdriver and it's all fixed.

Thanks for the suggestions. Saved me an embarrasing trip to the dealer and some money as well.

Not that it matters now, but it's an 06 with 6000 miles. Brakes are still original

it is just from experience. I went through a railroad work zone a few years back, and picked up a handful of rocks in my passenger side rotor and cooling shield. It made an awful noise, and sounded like the wheel was going to fall off. Had it towed, service tech pulled out a dozen little rocks, and sent me on my way.

glad you got it solved.

rotor on!

It's happened to me as well, you think it's a design issue, or just bad luck?

i think it is just luck. not really bad luck either. just random chance that gravel or little stones find their way around, bounce just right.

I had it happen on the 8 last weekend, small bit of gravel, started to make a little groove in my new rotors, but a few sessions on track cured that problem.
