My car as it is is about as good as it's gonna get.
So now I'm thinking I want something fun, sporty, completely impractical, and easy to work on as a project car. I'm leaning against rotaries for this one, perhaps something with an engine swap though. I've surfed thru autotrader looking for inspiration and come up empty. Give me some ideas! Thanks |

Hmm... think conventional muscle car (mustang/camaro/firebird/etc)... get a 20b from atkins rotary, and w/the right build... confuse the heck out of the piston heads out there... aka the complete reverse of a ls1-into-rx7 swap

LOL if I saw a firebird with a rotary I would actually laugh out loud
![]() I'd think about doing a rotary super7 or something like that. Something super lightweight, with a lot of power and a high reving engine, completly impractical but a laugh riot to drive. |

Ya, it's basically a kit car. Here's a link to thier site http://www.ultimasports.co.uk/gtr/index.html
As they say, it's one of the fastest cars in the world. I've seen a couple on the track and there is nothing...NOTHING that can touch them. It's not all that cheap, but you have the satisfaction of blowing away Enzo's if you want ![]() Who wouldn't want this? ![]() |

ok i'm sold... but whats the extraction hood for? or is that cooler on the left for oil or tranny, and they actually run coolant tubes to the front for a front mounted radiator?

![]() If you want a project car, the atom def. isn't the way to go, as they come built already... tho you can get a "Westfield" kit from FM... Flyin' Miata : The Westfield Tho, theres a few other companies offering kits for "locosts" cheaper, with differing options, and different levels of preparedness...

Naw, as cool as the Atom is, it's not for me. Even the 7's I'm looking for something that is more of a "car" if you know what I mean. Not a tub with whees and an engine.
Building something off a trashed Miata does sound interesting. I remember way back when my Dad was into cars he used to make his own, WV Bug chassis with a Corvair engine, etc, and then make a custom body for it. I was too young to rememeber them in real, but the pics were awesome. I'm not sure if it's because he's older now, but though he said it was fun, it was a headache and he wouldn't do it again. I'm rambling, but sometimes I think what could I build if I put my mind to it, but most of the time I'm thinking, can't I just build a life size RC car, where everything I need comes in the box? |
