My dad used to build his own cars too, funny enough he said the same thing about it. Maybe it's an age thing?

Ahh, crap... I've been working up to trying and talk my dad into swapping one of his old 12A racing motors into a Nova he has sitting in his yard...

I hope he doesn't give me the same response... I think it'd be fun for midnight madness out at the LVMS drag strip

^ That would be a cool project. You're pretty hands on with your pop, you should be able to convince him to do at least one more.

I'm still waiting on my Ultima info. Nothing else has grabbed my eye yet.

I'm selling or will be selling the swapped FD. PM me if you're interested. It's a fantastic car.

Not for me, I want something different for the sake of being different, plus I'm keeping my car no matter what, but a friend of mine may be interested. I sent him a link to your build thread. I think it would be a perfect car for him.

Cool! Thanks! I'm taking it home soon and will be finishing up some loose ends and generally cleaning everything up, so maybe I'll have some updates to show.

Not sure what's next. I need to do some settling down - get a long-term job, a house and then go from there. Until then, I'm going to try to sell off the non-essentials so my assets are liquid and I'm not tied down.

Over here in Australia a few years back, there was a firm that modified Mx 5's, under the name of the Bullit. Obviously Mx5 outside, but underneath was a different breed. Did away with standard suspension, brakes, box, diff and engine. Was replaced with MUCH beefier components. Six pot calipers, bigger dics, live axle, and the killer... powered by a tweeked up supercharged Lexus V8. What a weapon these things are. Will see if I can find some more info on them.

Ya, those monster miatas are pretty incredible. Not sure how it effects the balance though, I know some small blocks can be pretty light, but it just seems wrong.

The MG that the mx5/miata was more or less based upon was fitted with a rover 3.5 litre V8 in the late 70`s. I think due to the weight of the block it was really only good for a straight line direction. However if the pack about youre Ultima doesnt arrive soon theyre are hundreds of companies in the UK that manufacture kit cars.Im sure you could end up with something totally radical and have the only one in the USA

You know the Ultima stuff never did show up, I get the impression they don't really care too much, which when building a kit car doesn't give me a lot of confidence. I know they are amazing, but that is pretty poor service from the get go.

Having something unique would be nice.. any links to some kits over there?

Wink

HI THERE HAD A QUICK LOOK FOR KITCARS IN THE UK,BEST ONE I COULD FIND WAS THE PILGRIM MINOTAUR.
http://www pilgrimcars.com/
LONG,LOW,WIDE AND RUNS A V8! LOOKS REALLY HOT

IF YOU WANT A OPEN TOP GO KART
Kitcars Dax Cars the kit car manufacture of component cars
THEY BUILD THE LOTUS 7 KIT WITH A 3.5 V8 WHICH WOULD BE FUN BUT ITS OPEN TOP MOTORING IN ALL SEASONS.

IF I FIND ANYMORE I POST EM.
MOST OF THE COMPANIES WILL 99% BUILD THE CARS FOR YOU.ALL YOU GOTTA DO THEN IS MAYBE BOLT THE SEATS IN.THERE IS AN ACTIVE IMPORT MARKET TO THE UK OF AMERICAN CARS.SO IM SURE SENDING ONE TO THE USA SHOULD NOT BE ANY HASSLE.ONLY BUMMER MAY BE THE IMPORT TAX STUCK ONTO IT BY THE US FEDERAL GOVERMENT.

Me too! loved that show.

You're right the taxes might be killer, but I have heard it's getting easier to get them in here.
