Well... the fancy test pipe will never get installed now... We won a Racingbeat header on an ebay auction, and it has the proper tube to activate the ports built in... so we're just gonna bend up another bare testpipe so that we don't have the loss from the weld spots of closing up the 2 holes now...

Got the header, and it didn't have the 5+6 port tube, so we modded it to look just like the RB roadrace header, and made a quick straight pipe to connect it to the "y". Much louder w/all 3 cats deleted, even w/the stock mufflers.

A little "raspy" tho... after we delete the stock mufflers, and convert it to one lightweight muffler, we might add a resonator to the testpipe to get it to sound right.

first time we fired it up:

making sure the 5+6 ports work:

still gotta delete the smog pump, as now its just dead weight...

Ya sounds good. It's a little raspy but you should be able to get that out with a small mod.

Hows the power?

Well, we forgot the camera mount at the shop, so no video.. sorry

Certainly felt like it had a lot more power, seemed to rev faster, and was a lot easier to steer witht he throttle, but our normal competition didn't show, so I dunno if we got any faster for sure... that and we had almost record turnout to the event, so we only got 4 runs instead of our normal 8+

about a month till the next regional event (sept 29) so we've got some time to make more improvements.

4 runs? wow.. I've never seen an auto-x that big. Least amount I've ever had was 7!

Great that it looks like it's working though, little time to refine it some more for an ass kickin in sept

Good stuff Rick.. too bad you couldn't really compare it.

Don't worry about the camera, at least you just forgot it, you know how many times I go to the trouble of setting it up to find I took close ups of my windsheild wipers?

havent had a chance to weigh it yet since the exhaust project, last time we had it on the scales we were just under 2600lbs... if i were to guess, i'd say we're down another 100 lbs since. I think we might be able to find another 100lbs or so, as well

Well, we added some weight tonight...

in the form of big ass oversized Racingbeat sway bars

Also upgraded to some hawk HPS brake pads, and added the oem spoiler.

didn't bother to take pics of the sways, as you can't see 'em on the car, and the install was simple. but DANG... the car is sooo much more flat now... we went and goofed off on some backrpads for a little... car turns so much better... feels so much flatter... way less throttle oversteer, too... car feels firmly planted. So much so, the seats we stole out of the GXL feel inadequate now...

Now we're torn on our next upgrade... it will either be the solid heim endlinks to finish the suspension, or finish our exhaust by replacing the "y-pipe" and dual exhausts with a single pipe and lightweight muffler, or real racing seats... or maybe some lightweight wheels and r-comp tires, since the azenis seem to be the bottleneck for grip now...

but, we've got a busy 3 weeks of racing to make up our minds.... next weekend is autocross on the flightline at nellis AFB (last event at that location, the course was over 2 miles long, and it had so much grip it was like driving on sandpaper!), the next week is a regular autocross out on the asphault lot at primm, and then the weekend after uis the evo school (just recenty found out my registration was accepted... yay!)

Proper sways make a huge difference. Funny that you couldn't find an auto-x a couple months ago, now you got 3 in a row
