What I'd like to know Brent, is now that you've done it, would you do it again?

Seeing that front missing makes me queezy

Awesome work though

Dude, that is incredible!! You must have a permagrin knowing it's finished.

Mad props to ya, that is one sick ride. Let us know when you open it up!

Yeah, I'd probably do it again. I haven't been able to reap any of the rewards of the swap yet, since I've driven it a total of about 3 miles, but knowing what I do now would make the next swap pretty easy...in comparison.

I'd like to have a better place to work on it though, along with a full tool set. What I've been using is downright pathetic.

And, no permagrin, it's not nearly finished yet. Still tons of work to do to get it ready. I just today got the cooling system mostly buttoned up...

Still has no interior, no wipers, PCM needs to be mounted, gauges need to be troubleshot, leaks found and fixed...a million things to do!

I'd love to have a shop to do stuff like this, my driveway just doesn't cut it

Sure it does! We didn't have much/any better. I'd have loved to be back in my dad's shop, but it's 2.5hrs away from here...

I haven't been there for a while, so I shouldn't say much, my impressions weren't a good..but I wasn't partying in school though

Drop me a PM when you're coming up

very nice, it is always interesting to see the engine swaps. They can really fool someone who has no idea it has been done. our local tuner shop owner has a second gen with an LS1, and the Corvettes on the track are not happy about getting blown away.

do you have any pics of the finished product?

Will do, Lennox. As for the partying...not so much. Outside of cool car stuff, I'm pretty boring - just hang out with friends mostly. At my school, the party scene is a joke anyway, so that's no fun.

No pictures of the finished product because it definitely isn't finished yet. I still have at least a week or two of working on it to get it into good shape.

That is a very cool FC though. Looks like they did a hell of a job on it!

yep, he sure did, it is his track/race car now. It is a blast to ride in, 400+ HP and very light. It scoots to say the least.

That is the perfect car...or the 3rd gen? 2nd gen? I'm so confused

Either one would look great in my driveway

Charlie, the guy who built the red 2nd gen, has built a few of them. One was the Fc convertible, it was white, and looked really nice, very sleeper, from the outside, it did not look unusual at all, until it fired up. Same with the red one, when they fire up, heads turn, and people want to know what is under the hood. It is really kinda funny.

I like the look of FD a million times better than the FC, but I'd definitely prefer an FC for the track (costs...).

I'll let you know when I finish mine and we can work something out.

So, I got a bit more done last night. I'm not sure where I left off, but after hours and hours of work, the cooling system should be working fine.

Fixed my fan relay wiring (PCM provides ground, not the positive I was expecting).
Fixed the headlight pop-up (forgot a combined chassis ground up front). I still need to look into why they don't light up, but I assume that's just bulbs.
Changed out the diff oil.

The stuff that came out was likely the original fluid, judging by the incredible stink, the fact that the fill and drain were not overtorqued and also the amount of gunk that was on the magnetic drain plug. Not enough to be worried about the condition of the diff though. Torsen (Quaife-style) diffs just tend to put a lot of goopy stuff on the drain plug. I had maybe half as much goop on my S2000 diff plug when I changed the fluid at ~28k miles, so I'm taking this as a sign of relatively good health for the diff. For the record, I used Mobil 1 75w-90 oil. Nothin' fancy. If I planned on keeping the car that long, I'd change it out again around 20-30k miles from now.
Oh yeah, I also got a sticker. Pictures to come soon.
